A Lifetime's Understanding of Horses

Horses have been a part of my life for many years, and my experience as both a horse owner and dressage rider has given me a deep appreciation of their beauty, movement and character. This firsthand knowledge is invaluable when creating my paintings, allowing me to understand not only their anatomy but also the subtle details of posture, balance and expression that bring a portrait to life.

As a dressage enthusiast, I have always admired the elegance, strength and harmony of the horse in motion. Whether standing quietly in the field or performing with precision in the arena, horses create beautiful lines and shapes that continually inspire my work. It is this combination of athleticism, grace and individuality that I strive to capture in every painting.

Over the years I have painted a wide variety of breeds, including Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, Sport Horses, Hunters, Arabians, Welsh Ponies, Irish Cobs and many others. My work has also featured horses from a broad range of disciplines, including dressage, show jumping, eventing and showing, as well as more relaxed and candid scenes that celebrate the everyday life of the horse.

Whether creating a commissioned portrait or an original painting, my aim is always the same—to capture not only a faithful likeness but also the spirit, presence and personality that make every horse unique.

Original Paintings

Many of my original paintings are inspired by moments observed in everyday life, whether during visits to yards, horse shows or while photographing horses for commissioned portraits. Others are created from my own reference photographs or from photographs generously provided by, and used with the permission of, talented equine photographers whose work has inspired me.

Working primarily in professional PanPastels allows me to create the soft, painterly style that has become a hallmark of my work, although I also enjoy working in oils and occasionally acrylics or mixed media when a subject calls for a different approach.

Every painting begins with a genuine appreciation for the horse itself, and it is always a privilege to create artwork that celebrates these remarkable animals.

Purchasing Original Artwork

Original paintings may be purchased directly from me or through a selection of carefully chosen online galleries.
Over the years my artwork has found homes throughout the UK and internationally, and I have been fortunate to sell both original paintings and commissioned portraits to collectors, horse owners and animal lovers alike. My work has also been represented by galleries and has been exhibited at leading equestrian art exhibitions.
If you would like to enquire about the availability of a painting or discuss a commissioned portrait, I would be delighted to hear from you.
