Sunset Dash -Two Friesians Galloping

This painting was inspired by a photograph I took during a photography workshop, where I was drawn to the wonderful sense of movement and energy as these two beautiful Friesians galloped together through the warm evening light.

I particularly loved the way the setting sun caught their flowing manes and picked out warm highlights across their dark coats, creating a striking contrast against the deeper tones of the surrounding landscape. Their powerful movement and close connection give the painting a wonderful feeling of freedom and togetherness.

Painted in Pan Pastels, I have used a loose, painterly approach to capture the movement of the horses, the warmth of the fading sunlight and the atmospheric quality of the scene.
