Quiet Reflection - Grey Andalusian

Original Pan Pastel Painting

I am delighted that I have been awarded Best Associate for my Pan Pastel painting "Quiet Reflection" at the Society of Equestrian Artists' Horse in Art exhibition 2026!

The Exhibition runs from 14th - 26th September 2026 at The Sally Mitchell Gallery, Tuxford, Newark.

This painting was inspired by a photograph I captured during a beach photoshoot with this magnificent Andalusian horse. As we paused for a moment, he turned his gaze along the beach, creating a wonderfully peaceful and contemplative scene that immediately captured my imagination.

There was something timeless about his quiet expression, framed by his flowing mane and the vast expanse of sea and sky beyond. It was a fleeting moment of stillness that perfectly reflected the grace, nobility and gentle character for which the Andalusian breed is so admired.

Working in professional Pan Pastels I built delicate layers of colour, capturing the soft coastal light and the subtle tones of his coat while retaining the velvety, painterly quality that is characteristic of my work. My aim was not only to portray his striking beauty but also to preserve the sense of calm and quiet reflection that made this moment so memorable.
