Capturing Character. Celebrating Companionship. Creating Timeless Memories.
Our animals become part of our family. They share our adventures, our achievements, and our quiet moments, leaving lasting memories that deserve to be celebrated.
At Lorna Lancaster Fine Art, I specialise in creating exquisite hand painted pan pastel portraits of horses and dogs, carefully crafted to capture not only their likeness but their unique spirit and personality.

"Painterly realism that captures the essence of your companion, rather than simply reproducing a photograph".
My portraits are not intended to be photographic copies. Instead, they are painterly interpretations that celebrate the character, spirit and individuality of each horse or dog. Read more.......

Every portrait begins with a conversation
Bespoke Portraits Created Just for You
Whether you're commemorating a beloved companion, celebrating a successful competition horse, or searching for an unforgettable gift, your portrait will be created entirely by hand from your favourite photographs (or if you are reasonably local I can come and take some for a fee).
Each commission is tailored to your preferences, including:
-
Horse portraits
-
Dog portraits
-
Single or multiple subjects
-
Custom backgrounds
-
Memorial portraits
-
Gift commissions for special occasions
Every portrait is as individual as the animal it celebrates.
The Beauty of Pan Pastels
PanPastels offer a unique combination of rich colour, delicate texture, and remarkable realism. Their velvety finish creates beautifully soft transitions while allowing the finest details to shine through, resulting in artwork that feels both elegant and lifelike. The finished portrait captures warmth, depth, and expression in a way that photographs simply cannot.

Meet The Artist
My interests in art and design were established in childhood. My father’s profession as an architect and my mother’s talent for oil painting were major artistic influences for me.
After leaving school, I studied window display, drawing and painting and art history, and some graphic design. I qualified as a Window Display Artist and continued to paint as a hobby, painting people, still life and animals for many years until it eventually became my career. Read More......

" Having a passion for horses since childhood, I have a compulsive desire to paint them. I'm inspired by the graceful shapes that they create, light and shade, and I see a whole variety of colours in their coats. Having owned several horses and competed in dressage I understand the conformation and movement which gives a horse its character and gracefulness"
