When my client commissioned a portrait of the much-loved Yorkshire Terrier, Ollie, she sent me a wonderful selection of photographs to choose from. Each one captured a different aspect of his charming personality, but one image in particular immediately stood out.

Photographed sitting beside the Christmas tree, Ollie looked completely at ease, his bright expression and inquisitive nature beautifully captured in a warm, festive setting. The composition had a natural charm that I knew would translate perfectly into a portrait, creating a painting that was both personal and full of character.

Using professional PanPastels, I carefully developed the rich textures of his silky coat and the gentle expression that made him so endearing. My aim was to create more than just a faithful likeness, capturing the warmth and personality that made Ollie such a treasured companion.

The finished portrait was commissioned as a special gift for my client's sister, making it a thoughtful and deeply personal keepsake that I hope will be enjoyed for many years to come.
