Harley was an absolute joy to paint. Commissioned from a selection of photographs provided by his owner, one image immediately stood out with its wonderfully contented expression and unmistakable smile.
There was something so appealing about the way Harley seemed to be beaming with happiness, as though he had just paused for a moment before setting off to wag his tail once again. Capturing that cheerful personality became the focus of the portrait, ensuring that his warmth and affectionate nature were every bit as important as achieving a faithful likeness.
Using professional Pan Pastels and traditional pastels, I carefully developed the soft textures of his coat and the expression in his eyes, creating a portrait that celebrates the playful, loving character that made Harley so special.
